우리나라 프로 스포츠의 저변 확대와 세계적인 경쟁력 강화를 위한 협력으로, 두쪽은 이날 오전 서울 광화문 KT 사옥에서 업무협약을 맺었다. KT는 스카이티브이(skyTV)가 소유한 스포츠전문채널 스카이스포츠를 물적 분할하고, 프로축구연맹은 이에 상응하는 현금을 출자해 K리그 중심 중계 채널 사업을 영위하기 위한 조인트벤처(JV)를 설립하기로 합의했다.
마치 응원단 앞 좌석에 직관 온 것처럼, 경기 내내 응원단을 볼 수 있는 기능도 추가했다. 3루, 외야, 홈 등 수많은 시점으로 볼 수 있는 ‘포지션별 영상기능을 업그레이드해, SBS경기에서 중계하는 정규시즌 모든 경기에선 응원단의 형태을 경기 내내 볼 수 있다. 그런가 하면 경기 중 궁금증은 ‘채팅기능을 통해 SBS스포츠 해설자에게 질문하면 궁금증을 해소해주는 코너도 운영할 예정이다.

최근까지는 15개 종목의 중계를 AI가 큰 문제 없이 해낼 수 있다. 축구·배구·농구 등 사각 경기장에서 규칙적인 패턴으로 공이 오가는 스포츠에선 크게 오작동 할 게 없다. 지금보다 카메라의 해상도를 높이고, 줌인을 더 크게 하는 정도로 발전할 수 있다. 카메라 수를 늘려 여러 장면을 교차해서 드러낸다면 인공지능은 스포츠 중계 PD가 하는 일을 거의 완벽하게 대체할 것이다.
