official dog registration papers

I finally found the official dog registration papers from when we adopted Max at the county shelter. It's this slightly crinkled form with his microchip number, rabies vaccination date, and my signature acknowledging he's spayed and licensed. The city requires these papers for his annual tag renewal, and I keep them in a folder with his vet records. It feels official and reassuring, like proof he's really ours.
